The Community Concerns committee does outreach such as nursing home visits
Bastrop Nursing home visit. Members of our church were among a group of volunteers who gathered at the Bastrop Nursing Home on April 14, 2015, where they received gifts and praise for their service. One of the volunteers from the Bastrop area brought his little dog, a special delight of nursing home residents. One of our members, Lucy Jones, also enjoyed the charms of Miss Daisy.
First United Methodist Church received a Certificate of Appreciation at the Thanksgiving dinner at Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing Center on November 16,2014. It was a festive occasion with turkey and other delicious food served to residents and their relatives as well as volunteers.
The church conducts a sing-song for the residents once a month. The church conducts a sing-song for the residents once a month. The committee would welcome more members and friends to come share singing and a kind word with those at the center who welcome visits.
